-What is Open Table?  It is a meal with friends.  It is worship and praise.  It is a place to grow in our understanding of who we are as God’s people.  It is a place to join with others in service to our community.

-Who is Invited?  Anyone.  Young, old, dark skin or light, singles of any age, families of any size. Children are welcome and encouraged.  If traditional church is not your thing, or if you can’t be present for Sunday morning worship, this may be for you!

-When and Where? August 12th.  Normally the 2nd Sunday of the month, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. (arrive between 5:15 and 5:30) in the social hall of WHUMC.  Come casual.

-What Can I Bring?  Soup and bread are always provided.  Everyone else is asked to bring a food item to share.  Want to bring a salad?  Great!  A casserole?  Awesome.  Cheese and crackers?  That sounds good too.  No need to sign up.  We eat what we bring to share.

-How is this different than “regular” or “traditional” church?  Some elements are the same – music (though it may be simple), a reading from scripture.  But the message (or sermon) takes place as a discussion around tables.  There is always communion, done with informal liturgy.  And there is food!
