What to Expect in Worship
Westover Hills United Methodist Church offers both in person and online worship opportunities.
Online worship occurs Sundays at 10am on the WHUMC Facebook page. Online worship is led by Pastor Donna Holder and is shared as a posted video. The chat option is open and available during the online worship experience and can be used to connect with others who are worshipping with you.
In person worship happens each Sunday at 10am and is led by Pastor Donna Holder in the WHUMC Sanctuary. The entrance is located at 1705 Westover Hills Blvd and you will find a greeter at the door ready to show you where to get a worship program and where the entrance to the Sanctuary is. There are no specific dress expectations although you will find most folks dressed in business casual attire.
Music is traditional and played via piano and pipe organ and is led by the WHUMC Director of Worship & Music Matthew Spangler. Song leaders lead the music in worship and rotate weekly. The WHUMC children and youth play in both handchime and handbell choirs, and you can expect to see them play during special Sundays such as Easter and Christmas Eve.
Children are welcomed in worship regardless of age. If you prefer to utilize the nursery, we do have nursery available for children ages newborn to 4yrs old. The nursery is located on the second floor and you will be greeted by Miss Amy, who not only works in the WHUMC nursery, but also in the Westover Hills Preschool.
Children 5 and older are welcome to attend Children’s Small Group which occurs during the 10am worship service. Children’s Sunday School uses Orange curriculum and is organized and led by the WHUMC Children & Youth Director Adria Kilbreath. and by church volunteers who have undergone the WHUMC Child Protection training. Children remain in small group until the Worship service is over. Parents can then pick up their children from the small group classroom located on the second floor.
