Play & Worship Nursery Class – Sunday Mornings during the 10am Worship Service

We ask that all families complete the registration for the current year on or before their first visit.

Children 4 and under will start their faith journey with us during Play & Worship Nursery class. Our emphasis with this age group focuses on learning about God through playing, singing, games / activities and listening to stories.

Here at WHUMC we love to nurture little ones in a fun and safe environment. We offer nursery care from infants to preschoolers up to 4 years old on Sunday Mornings from 9am – 11am. Paid nursery staff are on hand during this time to care for our little ones. All paid and volunteer staff are trained and screened in accordance with our Safe Sanctuaries Policy.  To view a copy of the policy Click Here.

What to Bring
Please bring diapers, bottle, sipper cup and anything else your child may need while being cared for by our staff and volunteers. Be sure to clearly label all items with your child’s name. Help us make the most of our time with your children by feeding them and visiting the restroom before attending the Nursery.

Drop-off/Pick-up Procedures
Our nursery is located on the upper level and an usher can guide you to the Nursery upon your arrival. When guardians bring their child to the nursery, they will sign-in their child on the clipboard. The child will then be signed out by their guardian or by another adult if we have received written permission from the guardian that it is ok to release the child to that person. We will send a text message if you are needed to return to the Nursery prior to the end of the service. All guardians are asked to fill out a Nursery participant registration form prior to dropping off for the first time.
You may access this form here or a digital copy can be filled out at the entrance to the Nursery.

Meet Amy

Hi I’m Amy! I’m originally from northern California. I come from a big family and was always around children. In high school, I fell in love with Early Childhood Education. One of my electives was working in the on-campus preschool. This experience set in motion my future working with young children.

After I graduated high school I majored in Early Childhood Education and Psychology. I worked for several years at a children’s center before getting the opportunity to move to Boston where I worked for several wonderful families in New England as a nanny. In 2005 Virginia became my home. I became a mom to an AMAZING son who just became a teenager! And for the last 8 years I have been a teacher at Westover Hills Preschool.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my darling son, drinking coffee, and taking classes at JMU towards my teaching credential.
